Faith Formation Director: Joyce Franklin

703 356 8419 jfranklin@saintlukemclean.org

Joyce comes to us from St. Jude Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, VA. At St. Jude, Joyce was hired to create a Faith Formation program for the new Mission Church of St. Jude, which was established as a canonical parish in 2007. This required her to set up a program for students from kindergarten through high school, as well as develop the RCIA program and adult formation. Prior to going to St. Jude, Joyce worked at Holy Family Parish under many hats. She was Director of Religious Education; Director of Adult Education and Spiritual Enrichment and at one point interim Liturgy Coordinator. This very rich background which Joyce brings to St. Luke makes her a gifted member of our staff.

Parish Finance Manager: Sandy Wallenhorst

Sandy Wallenhorst is the heartbeat of the parish staff. Although she grew up in West Virginia, she was actually born in New York. She holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Wheeling Jesuit University and has done graduate work in education and computer science at the University of Virginia and George Mason University. Sandy’s love of math and computers led her to be a computer programmer/analyst with the government, computer studies instructor at Saint Luke School and finally to her present position as Parish Finance Manager which she has held for almost 20 years. Not only does Sandy manage the parish finances, which is an encompassing job in itself, she is also our Director of Human Resources. But above all, Sandy is the good listener in whom we all confide. She and her husband Bill have been parishioners since 1982 and with a smile are often referred to as Beauty and the Best. They have four grown children and recently welcomed a granddaughter, Christa, to the family. When Sandy is not keeping up with life in the parish’s epicentre, she enjoys reading, gardening, dancing, hiking, biking and most of all being with Christa.

Parish Facilities Manager: Roberto Rocabado

703 356 4619 rrocabado@saintlukemclean.org

He’s the man to go to! Yes, what you see so beautiful and welcoming on the campus of Saint Luke comes from the hard work and dedication of Roberto and his talented maintenance team. In fact, in a recent diocesan inspection report, Saint Luke was commended for being “…one of the best, if not the best, maintained facility in the diocese.” A member of our staff since 1987, he took the manager position in 1995 and has never stopped running and giving. A native of Bolivia, Roberto is now a proud citizen of the USA. Roberto’s wife, Doris, and his two children, Adrianna and Brian, share Roberto with us…and they go to him, too!

Mark comes to us from Thea Bowman Charter School in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Mark worked in schools in St. Louis, MO. and Alexandria, VA. Mark has also been involved in pastoral and youth ministry in Forestville and Silver Spring, MD. This has given him a very rounded background relating not only to classroom teaching, but also to administrative work. His work in pastoral and youth ministry has positioned him to make the connection between the living out of our faith and the academic understanding of it.
