In the art of French orchestration, contrasting instrumental colors blend into a cinematic soundscape. Debussy's tender Sarabande , Fauré's descriptive Pelléas et Mélisande Suite, and Ravel's piquant Le Tombeau de Couperin are not only evocative musical vignettes, they are reflections of each composer's personality. Bizet's operatic flair fills his Symphony in C with humor and crackling rhythm.
