"What Is Converge?"

Converge is an opportunity for middle school youth (grades 7-8) featuring fun games, snacks, opportunities to make new Christ-Centered friendships, and an opportunity to grow deeper in faith.

In response to the current Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) schedule, Converge will continue to meet every Monday from 2-3:30pm. We will adjust the meeting time based on FCPS and needs of families in the parish.

We will continue to give middle schoolers a jumpstart on the process of preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. From January 11-February 1 we doing a 4-part series on Joseph in the Old Testament and St. Joseph, which should help us enter into the Year of St. Joseph declared by Pope Francis for 2021. We will complete service projects (30 minutes/meeting), as well as help young people explore Confirmation names and options for sponsors.

Please fill out the permission form online to register for the whole year. The $25 fee helps offset Converge costs throughout the year but young people are welcome to register regardless of ability to pay.

"What is Blaze?"

Blaze is the Walking with Purpose ministry for girls in 6-8th grade. The mission of Blaze is to use Scripture to speak truth into the hearts of young girls who are bombarded by lies about their true worth and beauty. Middle school girls are filled with questions. They have doubts, desire clarification, and want to share their thoughts in a space that will allow them to make their relationship with God personal and meaningful. Each week, participants will be led through an ice breaker activity and a short lesson based on a lie found in the world and a truth found in Scripture.

This 20 week program begins on October 10th. We will meet on Thursdays at St. Luke School during middle school lunch and recess (11:50am-12:35pm) in the Youth Room (room 4 of St. Luke School). We will have the chance to eat lunch before starting the bible study and activities. Dr. Barbara Miller and Sara Hammett are excited to pour their experiences in Walking with Purpose and Middle School Ministry into this program as mentors for Blaze. Complete the online permission form to sign your daughter up for Blaze.

"What are Youth Groupings?"

Youth groupings are small communities of peers that are centered in Christ as well as common interests.

What you see above are a few of the groupings we currently offer, but as St. Luke Youth Ministry grows, more youth groupings will be established and will be shown in our calendar.  Youth groupings can be large or small, one-time events or long-term groups, and they can be organized around any passion, skill, or interest.

If there's a youth ministry opportunity you would like to see at St. Luke, God could be calling us to work together and make it happen - so let us know your ideas (youthministry@saintlukemclean.org)!
