​Our mission

​Saint Luke Care for Creation Ministry is a group of parishioners seeking to follow Pope Francis and his Laudato Si' encyclical. Through prayerful actions and educational efforts in our parish and community, we hope to heal and protect our beautiful and unique planetary home, sustaining all human life and the natural abundance and beauty that is God's greatest gift to His people.

The Care for Creation Ministry at Saint Luke meets regularly to discuss parish-wide initiatives that promote positive environmental change through education, individual action and community outreach in the spirit of Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si'.

Diocesan Action Plan for Year 1

In February, a joint initiative of the Holy See and the Stockholm Environment Institute, released a booklet to guide us to meet the challenges of the climate crisis, Our Common Home, A Guide to Caring for our Living Planet. This illustrated booklet connects climate change, biodiversity and sustainable resource use with the messages of Pope Francis’s 2015 Encyclical on the care for our Common Home, Laudato Si’. The guide addresses the science on urgent environmental issues and explains how individuals and communities can take action to build a more sustainable and socially just future.
