There may be a situation of adults Catholics who have not been confirmed. This happens because the age of Confirmation changes from parish to parish and diocese to diocese. Some places follow the 1900 year old tradition of the Catholic Church, where one receives the Sacrament of Confirmation prior to First Eucharist. Other places see a value in conferring the Sacrament during high school years. It is quite possible, because of moving to different locations as a child, that an adult has not received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The Diocese of Arlington holds a special celebration each year on the Solemnity of Pentecost – the 7th Sunday of Easter, for adults in this situation. It is the responsibility of the local parish and its pastor to prepare candidates for Confirmation. Adults in Saint Luke Parish interested in receiving this sacrament should have an initial interview with one of the priests or staff members as early as September and no later than November. Following that interview, a program will be set up for the candidate so that they may receive the proper guidance.
