Pre-Confirmation Catechesis To be eligible for enrollment in the Confirmation Preparation Program, a student should:
- Regularly attend Grade 7 and Grade 8 religious education in Saint Luke School, Religious Education Classes or private Catholic school.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic Catholic beliefs.
- Have the desire to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
- Be a member of St. Luke Parish, Enrolled in and attend Religious Education as a member of the current candidate class for Confirmation. Please notify the Religious Education Office if you just moved into the parish, etc.
Confirmation Preparation Program
Students will be expected to:
- Participate faithfully in religion class, in Saint Luke School or Religious Education Classes. A pattern of unexcused absences from religious education classes, more than three per semester, can postpone reception of the Sacrament. An excused absence is defined as one being reported to the religious education office due to illness or family emergency.
- Complete Works of Mercy Projects
- Select a patron saint whose name you will take at Confirmation.
- Complete one written report on the life of the saint.
- Give prayerful consideration to the selection of a Confirmation sponsor. The sponsor must be a Confirmed, practicing Catholic over the age of 16. Parents may not be sponsors for their own children. Sponsors need to request a sponsor certificate of participation from their home parish. (Not required if the sponsor is registered in Saint Luke Parish.)
- Write a letter to the Bishop requesting the Sacrament.
- Attend a candidate interview with Fr. Guest or Fr. Carroll
- Participate in Confirmation Small Group Sessions starting in October 2024.
- Participate in a retreat for candidates prior to Confirmation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic Catholic beliefs.
- Complete and turn in all paperwork when due.
- Attend the Confirmation rehearsal with sponsor . A parent may stand in for the sponsor if the sponsor cannot be at the rehearsal. Each candidate must be accompanied by an adult.
