FAIR Trade Market at St. Luke’s – November 22 & 23, 2025!
St. Luke’s Care for Creation Ministry is excited to announce our third annual Fair Trade Market after Masses November 22 and 23, 2025. We are happy to have Fair Trade Winds operate this event again. Fair Trade Winds is a family business that believes our everyday purchases can have a positive impact. Their core values are rooted in ethical craftmanship, meaningful connections and a passion for quality. You are sure to find treasures among the craft items and food products on display in the hall after Masses.
Supporting Fair Trade can also be a choice in daily life, so let’s remember to keep an eye out for Fair Trade logos as we do our routine shopping at local stores. And when you find Fair Trade in unexpected places, share the word with others!
“The urgent challenge to protect our common home includes a concern to bring the whole human family together to seek a sustainable and integral development, for we know that things can change.” (LS 13)

Native Plant Sale after all Sunday Masses on May 31 and June 1, 2025!
Blooming flowers and growing plants are magnets pulling us outside to the garden. The new growth inspires us to get out there, clear away the dead stems, pull those pesky winter weeds and dig into the fresh spring earth. We are lucky to have a great local resource, Earth Sangha, for advice and information about our Northern Virginia native plants. The local cultivars provide just the right habitat for our pollinators, songbirds and butterflies, and they are well-suited to our environment, needing little added water or fertilization. They are a bit different from the mass-produced offerings found in retail outlets but are more likely to establish themselves and return to beautify our landscapes and nourish our wildlife for years.

Opportunity to Compost Your Food Scraps
If you want to compost but cannot do it at home, a new County composting program may allow you to compost at a local farmers market.
The County's composting pilot program expanded to make the service available at three county-operated farmers' markets and one non-profit market thanks to a partnership between the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services and the Park Authority.
